Project management

The Project Management module is an essential component of the CTMS system that enables effective planning and management of clinical trial activities. It is specifically designed to provide project managers and clinical trial coordinators with the tools they need to define, track, and manage study activities, as well as to monitor study progress, expenses, and payments.

Various subtabs within this module provide you with the ability to efficiently keep track of your project timeline and activities, explained as follows:

  • Gantt chart: view this chart to get an instant insight into the current state and progress of study milestones and activities.

  • Critical Path Method (CPM) chart: view this chart to study the sequence of key tasks or activities that directly impact the project's overall timeline.

  • Milestones: track key study events, ensuring timely execution and progress monitoring, and manage milestones before and after integration into a study, allowing for better planning and deadline tracking.

  • Master activities: create, organize, and modify activities before adding them to a study, ensuring proper planning and execution. Master Activities provides tools to categorize activities for better organization and manage them effectively once integrated into a study.

  • RACI matrix: view this matrix to clearly define roles and responsibilities for study tasks and milestones. The RACI matrix helps teams coordinate efficiently by specifying who performs, oversees, consults on or tracks each activity, ensuring accountability and alignment with study protocols.

  • Workload assessment: track, assign, and balance study tasks by defining workload, updating progress, and estimating work hours.

  • My tasks: get a structured view of ongoing, workload-assessed activities, and view tasks (associated with activities) that are currently in progress and require attention.

  • Deliverables: manage and view files linked to activities or tasks in a centralized repository helping you access relevant study materials efficiently.

  • Activity types: create and manage types for organizing activities. Grouping similar tasks under specific types makes it easier to track, assign, and analyze workloads as well as ensures consistency in planning and resource allocation.
