Populated forms
In EDC, a populated form is a form of a simple or log type that uses some data of another form that is denoted as a baseline form.
This functionality becomes handy when the baseline data needs to be populated between visit forms during data entry in EDC. Baseline data represents the initial measurements or subjects' characteristics at the start of a study, such as their demographic or health condition details. By populating baseline data from one CRF to another, you ensure consistency and accuracy in data entry. This avoids redundant data entry efforts and minimizes the risk of data discrepancies or errors that may arise from manual duplication.
For instance, at the Screening visit, you complete the Target Lesion Assessment form and indicate the lesion location and other general details. Then, at the Enrollment visit, you have to complete the Target Lesion Assessment form again to follow up on the previous findings.
To eliminate the need to enter the same original data again, at the CRF configuration stage in SD, you can set up the Target Lesion Assessment form of the Screening visit as a baseline for the Target Lesion Assessment form of the Enrollment visit. Then you map the respective fields of the baseline and populated forms to ensure only certain details are autofilled and the rest—such as follow-up data—are available for manual entry.
Once such CRF configuration is pushed to EDC and your Target Lesion Assessment form is completed for the Screening visit, when you open the Target Lesion Assessment form for the Enrollment visit, the populated fields will be completed with the baseline data automatically.
Important
The populated forms are preconfigured in Study Designer (SD).
In EDC, you cannot change the populated form settings, however, you can switch from the baseline to its populated forms or locate the baseline form of the populated one.
